I was born in La Mirada and raised in Whittier and Norwalk. In 2000 I married my wife and we raised our three children to adulthood while living in La Habra. Three years ago we moved back to Whittier. We recognized some of the issues with public education early in our marriage and we decided to homeshcool our children. My wife took on the bulk of that responsibility. In the end we successfully graduated all three of our children from high school, the final one graduating this year. My oldest is 21 and he intends to run our corporation and plumbing companies, and I am training him to that end. My 18 year old daughter is attending a local community college at this time. And my 17 year old has 6 years of experience competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he intends to further his training after graduation.
After several years as a plumber, I started my own plumbing company (Mitch Clemmons Plumbing) in 2002. As a Bible believing Christian, it was my goal was to serve my customers well and offer fair pricing. By doing so my hope was to get rid of all of the large corporate plumbing companies that were taking advantage of my community. Over the years I have trained many plumbers. It is very technical trade, with more types of materials and appliances than any other trade. A strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems is necessary. As I identify plumbers that have a high technical aptitude and they are honest and fair, I teach them not only how to be plumbers, but also how to start, manage, and market their own plumbing companies. Rather than growing one big company that I own, I saw it as more effective to serve my employees by helping them do the same thing I did.
I'm also a self taught computer programmer, database designer, and linux systems administrator including computers, smart phones, servers, VPS's, and VPN's. These also requrie a high level of ability to identify the problem(s) and design effective and efficient solutions.
I've been active in ministry for nearly 30 years. This has given me the opportunity to serve my community in other ways besides plumbing. I've participated in many opportunities over the years: serving food to the needy; providing shoes, blankets, and other items to the needy; helping non-profits such as Giving Children Hope in Fullerton, La Habra Life Center; and participate and assist in many community outreach events.
I intend to take my skills in troubleshooting and finding solutions, my experience in business management, and my desire to serve others to the state capitol to help restore the Golden State.
