Preguntas de League of Women Voters of California (4)
I support governor's Newsom’s proposal to put housing and homelessness will be at the forefront of his legislative agenda,
What programs or legislation would you support to meet the water needs of all Californians?
I would support efforts to build upon low carbon fuel standards and California's Cap and Trade program. fiunds from the program have been used to create parks, plant street trees, help low-income families make their homes more energy efficient, provide rebates for buying electric cars and money for new charging stations. I would support some investment in building low-carbon infrastructure and redress environmental injustice.?
According to the California Legislative Analyst’s Office, we spend over $81,000 per individual who is incarcerated. Other than incarceration, what ways can the State address safety and justice?
Preguntas de The Sacramento Bee (3)
Yes. One of the fastest-growing populations in Assembly District 6 is the senior citizen community – a surge of 10,000 in the past couple of years. Seniors are concerned about access to health care and supportive services and the cost of their prescription drugs. For many living on fixed incomes, the shifting price of prescription drugs can be a life or death issue.
Prescription drug cost transparency provides people more control over their health care decisions. California passed the most comprehensive law aimed at shining a light on prescription drug prices. The incumbent, Kevin Kiley, was one of nine Assembly members that voted against it. His vote is contrary to the health and financial interests of our seniors. I would efforts to bring down and control prescription drug prices.
Yes, but we must proceed with caution. I support proposals like the 2020 Schools and Community First initiative. The initiative aims aiming to restore over $11 billion annually in revenue for our schools and local communities by assessing commercial and industrial property at fair market value, while at the same time protecting tax caps for homeowners and renters.
We should do both. We are experiencing a crisis of accessibility and affordability, so building is imperative. I am an advocate for smart growth that meets the needs of communities and not just the developers. I support the efforts undertaken by the Legislature and the Governor to generate needed revenues and remove impediments to development. these are ritical to tackling the housing crisis.
As a real estate agent and lanlord I understand the issues from all sides. The housing shortage and robust eceonomy have driven home and rental prices out of the reach of too many people in our state. I would support efforts to improve tenant protections from eviction and uncontrolled rent increases.
