Since her retirement from the County of Riverside - Child Protective Services - in 2005, Sheila's primary focus has been on building the local Democratic Party and on helping to elect Democrats everywhere! She has been active not only in the Riverside County Democratic party (having served several times as Recording Secretary and also as Candidate Development Committee Chair), she has been active in area Democratic Clubs. She has served several times as Secretary of Democratic of Greater Riverside (DGR) and also as the DGR Elections Committee Chair and the Rules Committee Chair. She now serves as the DGR Rules/Compliance Committee Chair. She served as the Secretary and Elections Committee Chair of the former Riverside Women's Democratic Club. She has also served on the board of her local League of Women Voters. As part of her effort to assist Democrats being elected, she developed a political acitivsim training program held as week-end boot camps which have been held several times in the past years. She served as the Volunteer Coordinator in the 2008 Hedrick for Congress campaign.
Sheila has also been an Union Activist having served the workers of Riverside County first on the board of the Riverside County Employees Assn. and then as the first democratically elected secretary to the new SEIU local which then joined SEIU 7-2-1. Being a retiree from the State of Florida, she is a current member of AFSME Retired local.
Before moving to California, Sheila was active in many other organzations including serving on the Planned Parenthood Board in Sarasota, Fl. and as a member of the Sarasota Foster Parents Assn. and as Secretary of the FL Foster Parents Assn.
