Illegal immigration must be stopped and that begins with immigration reform and border security. Recently, the president announced he would be imposing a 5% tariff on all Mexican imports and could go as high as 30% if they didn’t stop all the illegals coming up from Central America. It was evident that the Mexican government wasn’t doing anything to stop the flow of illegal immigrants from entering their country and making their way to our southern border. And to make things worse, Mexican authorities were actually providing those illegal foreigners with food, shelter, money and transportation all the way to the U.S. border.

President Trump did the right thing by not allowing those actions to go unpunished and sent a clear message to our southern neighbor that we will no longer ignore their anti U.S. trickery. Many people don’t see it this way, but Mexico is a failed state and promotes illegal immigration as a way to compensate for its complete failure as a government. And to make things worse, they have a deep and secrete hatred towards the U.S. that’s been simmering for who knows how long and they always root against us in world affairs. One way they create opportunity for their people is by promoting illegal immigration through federal programs that match funds sent home and used for social projects like roads, schools, clinics and so on.

Mexico is a corrupt and underdeveloped country and those are root causes of illegal immigration. According to data from various sources, they estimate anywhere from 12 million to 22 million illegal foreigners are currently living in our country.[i] Our strategy must focus on the southern border, as well as addressing the root cause that’s driving so many people to our country and that means fighting the corruption in Mexico that’s responsible for the extreme underdevelopment throughout that country. If we start charging Mexican politicians with corruption, sending them to jail and expropriating their assets within the U.S., we will send a message that will resonate sooner or later.

We need to be tough on Mexican politicians and prosecute the vast number of corrupt politicians, at all levels, when they enter the U.S. This will, in theory, reduce the corruption over time and bring more honest people into their government. As a nation, we need to be proactive on this issue because it directly affects our national security, social stability and economic wellbeing. Something like $400 billion a year is spent on illegals in the U.S.; from education, medical services, law enforcement & other public services, not to mention the drugs that are destroying entire communities and the criminals that are endangering our lives. That is a direct result from the corruption in Mexico. That government does nothing for its people and expects them to give up and leave in search of a better life, and that’s exactly what happens. They want less people in their country to deal with and spend less on social programs so they can focus on projects that will generate income through corruption. That’s how every level of governments operates in Mexico and there is no politician down there that isn’t corrupt. Any elected politician that has control of a budget is a crook, whether it’s a federal deputy, senator, governor, president, cabinet secretary, university president, or mayor. I will also include in that group of corruption the vast majority of business leaders at the local, state and national levels. Corruption is just part of the culture and their legal system can’t and won’t do anything about it.

The corruption is so endemic in Mexico that it’s accepted as normal in politics and business. Governors in Mexico easily embezzle hundreds of millions of dollars per year for their personal wealth. By the time they leave office, six years, they are among the riches people on earth. Recently, a former governor of the state of Mexico, had over $70 million dollars in cash seized from one of his massive properties in the State of Jalisco and rumor has it that it was actually over $250 million dollars in cash that was seized at that property, but the difference was never officially reported. When money like that is seized, it usually goes to the President and others at that level because corruption in Mexico starts at the top.

            Those corrupt politicians from Mexico spend their riches in the U.S. and in Europe, buying property and living the high life while their people suffer. And it’s ultimately us, the U.S. taxpayer, that’s stuck with the bill because we pay the cost of illegal immigration created by their corruption. We need to put them in jail, set many examples and use any money seized to promote economic growth in rural areas where illegal immigration begins, and we need to be very proactive in going after those corrupt politicians.
