Biografía
For the past 39 years, Anna has been a public official in service to the residents of San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties.
As a San Mateo County Supervisor for 10 years, Anna led the establishment of the Health Plan of San Mateo, took on the AIDS crisis to save lives, preserved thousands of acres of open space and protected the most vulnerable citizens.
Anna was elected to Congress in what has been dubbed “The Year of the Woman.” She was the first Democrat and first woman in the history of the District to win her Silicon Valley Congressional District, then the 14th Congressional District (CD).
As a Member of Congress, Anna has been a health care pioneer, a champion of new medical research and groundbreaking cures, a human rights and consumer advocate and a staunch proponent of clean energy innovation and the environment.
She cares deeply about her constituents and commutes home weekly to be with them … in person when safe and on her weekly Telephone Town Hall Meetings in every community. Last year she hosted a virtual Town Hall with Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, with over 2,000 constituents participating. Anna looks forward to returning to in-person Town Hall Meetings once public gatherings are safe and our public health crisis is behind us.
Chair of the House Health Subcommittee.
Anna is the first woman in the history of the U.S. Congress to Chair the Health Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee. As Chair of this powerful committee, she has worked to end the COVID-19 pandemic and produced legislation to lower the price of prescription drugs, eliminate racial and social inequities in health care delivery and build on the success of the Affordable Care Act by adding 4 million enrollees to the plan.
Anna’s health care work has been and continues to be incredibly prescient, impactful and life-saving.
Anna authored the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act “to improve the Nation’s public health and medical preparedness and response capabilities for emergencies, whether deliberate, accidental, or natural.” This Act established the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) which played a major role in helping private sector innovators rapidly develop and deploy lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines.
Anna’s fought for and secured historic investments in new medical research to fight the most aggressive, recalcitrant diseases, such as pancreatic, liver and ovarian cancer, and most recently amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In a November 4, 2021 hearing of the Health Subcommittee, she challenged, “Is there anyone who dares to vote no?” for the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies (ACT) for ALS. President Biden signed the bill into law on December 23, 2021, giving hope to the ALS community.
As Chair of the Health Subcommittee, Anna oversaw the largest overhaul of Medicare since its inception, including reforms to lower prescription drug costs by enabling Medicare to directly negotiate drug prices, just as the Veterans Administration has for years, and cap out-of-pocket costs on seniors’ prescription drugs.
The Senior Most Member of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology.
Anna is recognized as a national leader on technology policy and was named one of the most powerful women in Silicon Valley by the Mercury News. She’s championed Net Neutrality and is the author of the electronic signature bill that has streamlined digital transactions.
Anna has written what academic experts call the strongest and most comprehensive privacy legislation in Congress to safeguard personal information and hold companies accountable for violating individual privacy. She’s also a leader in combating the spread of disinformation and extremism on social media platforms that amplify hatred and incite violence.
Consensus Builder and Proficient Legislator.
Anna is proud to have authored over 50 bills and amendments that have been signed into law.
These laws reflect Anna’s drive to protect the most vulnerable Americans, foster innovation and economic growth, expand healthcare and address climate change. Her legislative efforts capitalize on her expertise in healthcare, telecommunications, technology and the environment and her ability to build consensus by working across the aisle on a bipartisan basis. The bipartisan U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress honored Anna in 2017 by awarding her the prestigious Statesmanship Award.
Anna is an undaunted legislator who never gives up on fighting for what’s right. She doggedly advocated her entire career for the U.S. to officially recognize the 1915 slaughter of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians as a genocide. Finally, in 2019, she adroitly seized an opportunity to pass the House Resolution recognizing the genocide and succeeded, ending over 100 years of official silence by the U.S.
Anna’s voting record, bill sponsorship and campaign platform reflect her priorities and her work prepares her for the public policy challenges ahead.
Endorsements and Awards.
Over the course of her legislative career, Anna has been repeatedly endorsed, rated A+ or 100% or a “Candidate of Distinction” by a wide range of organizations, including the Sierra Club; Peninsula Young Democrats; Planned Parenthood Action Fund; San Mateo County API Democrats; the Stonewall Democrats; the Conservation League of California; the Human Rights Campaign; the Alliance for Retired Americans; Mom’s Demand Action; and End Citizens United Action Fund.
She is also the recipient of a number of awards, including: the Innovator in Biotechnology Award and the Congressional Champion of Hope Award from the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Please see www.annaeshoo4congress.com for more information.
Personal Story.
Anna is a first generation American whose parents fled their homelands for freedom from religious and ethnic persecution, and for the promise of America. They instilled in Anna a deep love and respect for America, our Constitution, and our democratic ideals of equality and justice for all.
Anna’s family experience has had a tremendous impact on her social justice, human rights and immigration policy work and it guides her efforts to protect the vulnerable and underrepresented and level the playing field - whether they’re consumers, patients, children, seniors or racial minorities.

As a council member of Saratoga, I led the Water Oversight Committee efforts to combat the San Jose Water Company from unnecessary rate increases - find the summary here. As your congressman, I will continue to protect the people of Silicon Valley from artificially high water rates. We must build a future plan to address the growing population needs of the Bay Area. An infrastructure plan has to be in place.
California’s water problem fix
Rishi Kumar is committed to address the water challenges of California, particularly Silicon Valley. It is very important that Silicon Valley has a sustainable urban community given that the American economy hinges upon Silicon Valley’s success
Currently, California lacks the tools to enforce sturdy oversight and management over the use of water. Many of the submitted plans ever since the introduction of the 1983 Urban Water Management Planning Act have neglected the importance of supply and demand. Their approach also lacks incentives for conservation. Regulation should be as narrowly tailored as possible as centralized water policies can easily overlook the intricate, regionalized needs of the state. Submitting plans to the California Department of Water Resources should be required instead of voluntary. The plans should permit “local entities to control extractions from the groundwater basin.” This will help us directly tackle the continuous droughts that affect the safety of Californians. According to the Public Policy Institute of California, we must implement “water adequacy screening for new development” which would ensure housing growth simultaneously. For long-term water planning, we must implement sustainable policies and look to new sources of water supply such as “underground storage, recycling, and desalination.” We must also improve California’s groundwater management as some parts of the state struggle with full groundwater utilization, leading to problems of overdraft (averaging between 1 and 2 million acre-feet per year, according to the Water Education Foundation) that are associated with higher energy costs, toxicity, and land subsidence. This can be accomplished by reauthorizing the 2014 Sustainable Groundwater Management Act in order to distinguish between surface water and private property rights as well as to require details about how much water an individual can pump.
Potential Projects
Here are the projects that I am advocating
- Finish retrofitting and expand capacity of the Anderson Dam
- Expand Los Vaqueros Reservoir under Contra Costa Water District’s Proposal
- Expand Pachecho Reservoir from 5,500 to 140,000 acre feet
- Accelerate the Temperance Flat Project on the San Joaquin River
- California should reignite project discussions regarding the damming of rivers, which would result in more than 1,000 reservoirs. California should re-evaluate the benefits of boosting water flows for fish and creating recreational opportunities such as boating
- Call for the active collaboration of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, Santa Clara Valley Water District, and East Bay Municipal Utility District to come up with a master plan to ensure the future sustainability of Silicon Valley
- Push the Santa Clara Valley Water district to build a new Pacheco Pass reservoir in collaboration with the San Benito County Water District
The Biden administration should extend Title 42: Migrants attempted to cross the U.S.-Mexico border at the highest level in two decades as the U.S. prepares for even larger numbers with the expected lifting of Title 42.
Immigrants are the strength of this country. It sickens me to see the human rights violations committed against them at the southern border, the atrocities of detention camps, and the cruel separation of families that follows deportation. Hearing of unconsented medical procedures upon migrant women in ICE detention centers is shocking! I will do everything in my power to prevent such abominations from occurring in our country. First and foremost, I will fight to protect immigrant rights in our justice system, and help ingrain them into our economy under a legal and equitable standing.
To make immigration more effective, I will strive to address any ongoing issues with our H-1B visa program and to restore it to its original intent: protecting all workers from systemic abuses by profit-driven companies and increasing the pool of talented and high-skilled foreign workers that will further America’s economic success.
We also need to help immigrants take essential steps towards becoming permanent residents. Immigrants are beneficial both socially and economically to America; we need immigration visa reform, including HR 1044, that will increase opportunities for qualified individuals to achieve permanent residency and citizenship in a timely manner.
We are seeing the impact climate change is having here in California through recurring wildfires and droughts.
We have a chance to grow our economy and create thousands of new jobs by harnessing the power of green and alternative energy. I support the Green New Deal approach to reduce greenhouse gas production. Congress must play a critical role in supporting these industries and maintain our competitive edge in the global economy, ensuring that windmill manufacturers, solar panel makers, and biofuel producers have the support they need to grow. We have to wean the United States off of fossil fuels and curb planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions across our planet.
☆Decarbonization of the economy
Clean energy is not enough. We need to explore aggressive options to restore our planet to a livable climate. Humans have been increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels and deforestation. CO2 levels have gone from 317 ppm (parts per million) in 1955 to 412 ppm today and rising continuously, predicted to reach 450 ppm by 2040. We are heading to a point of no return. We need fast intervention and focused investment that is “cheapter, faster, better” to reduce the CO2 levels. The planet cannot wait! We should consider options such as direct air capture systems that will operate with high levels of efficiency and outpace trees to reduce atmospheric levels of CO2. We cannot rely upon just planting trees and depending on their slow carbon absorption alone. The state of the climate is dire! We have been handing out trillions of dollars during the pandemic, but our climate demands an immediate focus. We should consider various options such as ocean photosynthesis in algae or seaweed, which is how nature removed CO2 from the environment before the ice ages. As your congressional representative, I will not only support resolutions such as H.Con.Res 52 and H.Con.Res. 137, but also demand action that will ensure a large-scale mobilization to halt and reverse the increasing CO2 levels in the atmosphere.
☆Federal jobs guarantee and public investment
We all know that government spending stimulates the economy, spending creates growth, and results in tax revenue that pays for the original spending. The federal government must invest in green tech and climate friendly infrastructure. This will create jobs for millions of Americans and put them into professions creating a revitalized economy that can operate without pollution or fossil fuels.
☆Food sustainability: The 2023 farm bill
The nation’s food supply is a national security issue and should be part of the federal government’s agenda. Americans could clearly feel the financial stress of increased grocery bills during the COVID-19 pandemic. If elected, I will be a strong proponent of indoor agriculture, aquaculture, regenerative agriculture, and vertical farming.
☆ In summary, we must promote and create jobs in a clean-tech economy. Clean air, chemical free food, and water standards are a basic necessity for America. We need government investment in policies and projects that would change the way we design buildings, travel, and eat.

I love a good principled fight for the people and I will never sell out!
As a hi-tech executive, I was transferred by IBM to Silicon Valley from Michigan and I absolutely love it here. My wife, a networking industry professional, and I are raising our two boys and found our American dream in Saratoga. We also discovered a deep joy in giving back, solving the problems of our community, and helping to better people's lives. That is why I am running for Congress.
As a Mechanical Engineer, elected leader, and community activist, I was keenly interested in tackling tough challenges and delivering results. I reduced burglaries, defeated many San Jose Water Company rate hikes, challenged PG&E’s gutting of California’s solar program, pushed for the audit of HCD’s RHNA numbers, stopped a massive hotel in an environmentally sensitive zone, and stopped a road repair tax by favoring fiscal optimization measures.
I am NOT a Washington insider or career politician entrenched with lobbyists. I understand Silicon Valley's innovation economy as a hi-tech executive and will ensure our standing as the innovation capital of the world. I plan to address the tech exodus, with companies and our talent pool finding their way to greener pastures. Washington is inept, not only with tech, but also regarding challenges of today such as California wildfires, women’s reproductive rights, water infrastructure, housing, transportation, rising crime rates, and inflation.
My run for Congress is about bringing back integrity and a “getting-things-done” approach to public service. It is about addressing the challenges of today’s America:championing Medicare for All, legislating Roe, and cleaning up Washington by rejecting special interest money and influence. I would be honored to have your vote in the primary election on June 7, 2022.

- Create and upgrade the use of public transit technology and bring our infrastructure into the 21st Century with high speed, eco-friendly, energy efficient, noise free and pollution-free transportation - not the bullet train.
- Encourage tech corporations to invest in Silicon Valley infrastructure through P3 (public-private partnership) agreements. P3 agreements can allow faster and more efficient development of needed infrastructure projects at lower cost and less risk to the taxpayer.
- Establish a regional housing enterprise that spreads housing out to cities in the nine-county bay area (phase 1) and eventually to 21 counties around Silicon Valley (phase 2)
- Bring federal funds to help pay for California’s needed infrastructure improvements. California drives the American economy. We deserve America’s investment.
While many point to the recent Russia-Ukraine conflict as the sole cause of our high gas prices, the sentiment is actually incorrect as gas and oil production was already decreasing far before the conflict. In 2020, the amount of active US oil rigs reached an all time low with the pandemic and although since then they have been steadily increasing we are not even at the same level as the active oil rigs in 2019.
Over $30billion since 2015 in Mystery Gasoline Surcharge: Californians have contributed billions of dollars annually in fees and no one know where that money is going. Is this the “Office Space” fraction of pennies algorithm at work. We have to stop it. $4 billion. per year in 2021 that we cannot account for.
California's proposal to announce a $400 rebate proposal for every taxpayer in the state amid increasing gas prices is only a start. But the fees and taxes are a bit much.
The danger here is: rising natural gas prices could raise electricity and home heating bills. The increasing costs for transportation, power and heat would all contribute to inflation, which is already at its highest rate in 40 years in the U.S.

A Menlo Park native, Peter Ohtaki graduated from Woodside High School. He would then earn his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and his Master’s in Business Administration from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
In 2010, Peter was elected to the Menlo Park City Council and re-elected in 2014. In 2013 and 2018, he also served as Mayor. Following years of deficits, Peter led the effort to balance Menlo Park’s budget by addressing the city’s unfunded pension liability, saving the taxpayers $3.6 million in interest expense. Dubbed by his colleagues as the “number guy,” Peter brokered a compromise to balance the city’s budget, earning him a reputation as a bipartisan problem-solver.
Peter successfully attracted a start-up incubator and restaurateur downtown to create new opportunities for Menlo Park residents. He also convinced Facebook to create a community fund that benefits residents. To give cities more flexibility implementing zoning for housing, Peter partnered with State Assemblyman Rich Gordon to introduce legislation (AB1690) which passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in Sacramento and was signed into law by Governor Brown.
Before serving on the Menlo Park City Council, Peter served on the Menlo Park Fire Protection District Board of Directors, inevitably serving as Board President. He facilitated an agreement between the City of Menlo Park and the Menlo Park Fire Protection District on emergency preparedness and operations, including updating the city’s emergency operations plan. Under his leadership, the District paid 78% of its $13 million pension obligation, saving the District millions in interest costs.
Peter is currently Vice President, Enterprise Incident Management, for a major bank. Previously, as Executive Director of the California Resiliency Alliance, a non-profit public-private partnership, he brought businesses and government together to improve disaster resiliency statewide. Peter partnered with Assemblyman Pedro Nava to pass AB2796, which extended Good Samaritan liability protection to companies and non-profits that assist in disaster response. Before the California Resiliency Alliance, Peter was the Chief Financial Officer and co-founder of a technology start-up that served the education and interactive media markets from 1994 to 2005.
In 2009, he was awarded the Business Recovery Managers Association Award for Excellence. In addition, for his exceptional efforts in support of emergency management and preparedness, Peter was recognized by the California Emergency Services Association.
When he is not working or serving the community, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their three kids.

The Federal Government plays a part in California water allocation and use through a variety of projects and laws. What, if any, new programs or projects or reforms to existing programs and projects would you support in an effort to handle water shortages caused by the current and any future drought?
Should immigration laws be changed? What changes would you support? Please explain why.
As Congress Member what, if any, policies or legislation would you support to preserve democracy for all US residents?
Better mass transit will reduce the leading contributor to greenhouse gases - cars. Serving on the Citizens Advisory Committee for the San Mateo County Transportation Authority, I know Silicon Valley relies on a 160-year-old train line for its mass transit. California only gets 5% of the bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, yet we're 12% of the nation's population! Our Congressional representative should be fighting for billions to improve our transportation infrastructure in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

Greg Lin Tanaka was born in Los Angeles to a Japanese-American father and a Chinese-American mother. Raised in a single parent household, he went on to attend the California Institute of Technology and the University of California, Berkeley. Greg moved permanently to the Bay Area in 1993, settling down in Palo Alto’s College Terrace neighborhood in 2004. He is a father, an entrepreneur and devoted public servant, someone with the experience necessary for competent leadership and the outsider’s perspective central to innovative policy solutions. The pressing need for government and policies to catch up with technological advancements and a changing economy prompted Greg to run for Congress. His campaign is built on the belief that Silicon Valley and its residents deserve representation prepared for the challenges and opportunities of a new digital age.
Councilmember Tanaka’s career encapsulates the enterprising spirit and commitment to community service and promoting the public good that makes Silicon Valley what it is today. Greg is a committed public servant with nearly fifteen years of experience in local government and politics in Palo Alto. He initially served in a range of roles in city government, including as chair of the Planning and Transportation Commission, before being elected to the Palo Alto City Council in 2016. As an elected council member, Greg has been a tireless advocate for business friendly and financially responsible policies. His practice of holding regular ‘office hours’ sessions where he listens to the concerns of constituents has gained recognition, and in both of his campaigns for public office, he was committed to transparency and incorporating the input of residents. When the pandemic struck and shuttered businesses and upended lives nationwide, Greg fought in the City Council for policies to revitalize the local economy and help get Palo Altans back on their feet. His work as a ‘Councilmember for everyone’ earned him a whopping 400 endorsements in his 2020 campaign for re-election, and he is dedicated to taking this approach to governance to Congress as a representative for Silicon Valley.
Prior to taking office on the City Council, Greg first cut his teeth as a design engineer before pivoting to the business side of the technology industry. For years, he took a leading role in a series of startups working with both hardware and software, making a name for himself in Silicon Valley during his time at Synopsys and Rambus, gaining indispensable experience in an industry that is rapidly redefining our economy and society. In 2012, he founded the business analytics firm Percolata with funding from Google Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. At Percolata, Greg pioneered the use of machine learning to help clients like Uniqlo and 7-Eleven make smarter marketing decisions and optimize their operations. Additionally, Greg founded Pika Group in 2020, a web3 startup that develops algorithms to help automate day trading. Throughout his time at the intersection of the tech and business worlds, Greg has developed a unique perspective on how to leverage technological innovations and the power of the internet to better the lives of Silicon Valley residents and everyday Americans. He would bring the instincts of an entrepreneur and the pragmatism of an experienced public servant to Capitol Hill, instead of the narrow-mindedness of political insiders.
Seeing the world change at such a rapid pace during his time in both public service and the world of technology, Greg believes that it is time for Congress to get a reboot, and for Silicon Valley to have the legislator that it deserves. There are a lot of problems to tackle, especially with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges posed by emerging technologies and a digitizing world, but there are also countless opportunities that can be harnessed with the right policies and innovative spirit. Greg is running so that Silicon Valley residents can finally have the twenty-first century solutions that they need.

As gas prices continue to rise across the country, we are in the midst of an energy crisis. Furthermore, the significant effects of climate change have forced Californians to undergo a third year of drought, with the state experiencing the driest January, February and March ever recorded (ca.gov 2022). However, there is a simple and cost-effective solution for both of these problems: Diablo Canyon. One of the most pressing issues facing the state of California is the decommissioning of the nuclear plant at Diablo Canyon. The plant is scheduled to go offline in 2025. A Stanford study published in November 2021 found numerous benefits to delaying the retirement of Diablo Canyon. Delaying retirement of the plant to 2035 would reduce California power sector carbon emissions by more than 10% from 2017 levels and reduce reliance on gas, save $2.6 Billion in power system costs, and bolster system reliability to mitigate brownouts; if operated to 2045 and beyond, Diablo Canyon could save up to $21 Billion in power system costs and spare 90,000 acres of land from use for energy production, while meeting coastal protection requirements. Using Diablo Canyon as a power source for desalination could substantially augment fresh water supplies to the state as a whole and to critically overdrafted basins regions such as the Central Valley, producing fresh water volumes equal to or substantially exceeding those of the proposed Delta Conveyance Project—but at significantly lower investment cost.
Operating Diablo Canyon as a polygeneration facility—with coordinated and varying production of electricity, desalinated water, and clean hydrogen—could provide multiple services to California, including grid reliability as needed, and further increase the value of the Diablo Canyon electricity plant by nearly 50% (and more, if water prices were to substantially increase under conditions of worsening drought). These key findings highlight the state’s dire need for nuclear energy due to its low cost and high versatility. If elected, I will do everything in my power to keep Diablo Canyon open.
I believe that the efforts of talented workers from other countries can improve the competitiveness of the American economy and the skill level of American workers. Foreign workers help fill key gaps in employment, improving the productivity of American industries, the quality of American-made goods, and the overall well-being of our economy. Their presence also betters American workers, as foreign workers’ everyday interactions with U.S. citizens in the workplace enables for exchanges of ideas and perspectives that better prepare American workers to succeed in diverse work environments and equip them with important new skills, talents, and knowledge. I will support legislation that increases the number of work visas and employment opportunities open to talented foreign workers, specifically by boosting the number of H-1B and L-1 visas available and streamlining the issuing process by providing automatic qualification to applicants with advanced technical degrees. Above all, I hope to be a leader in recognizing immigrants’ broader contributions to our economy in Congress.
As Congress Member what, if any, policies or legislation would you support to preserve democracy for all US residents?
As the specter of climate change continues to loom over the United States, the search for viable and renewable fuel sources has never been more important. One of these sources, nuclear power, has been largely overlooked on Capitol Hill for far too long. Any ambition for the United States to be powered by clean and zero emission energy cannot come to fruition without significant investment in nuclear power. Nuclear energy currently supplies 20% of the nation’s electricity and has done so consecutively since 1990. In 2020, nuclear energy provided 52% of America’s carbon free electricity, making it the largest domestic source of clean energy.
The most notable advantage of utilizing nuclear power is the fact that nuclear facilities emit zero greenhouse gases when producing electricity. When compared to fossil fuel plants, nuclear power plants are exponentially safer on a per unit electricity generated basis. Furthermore, nuclear is by far one of the safest sources of energy, resulting in a significantly reduced number of fatalities per year that is 99.7% fewer than coal, 99.6% fewer than oil, and 97.5% fewer than gas. Encouraging the use of nuclear power as well as other renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar should be both an economic and national security priority.

As the specter of climate change continues to loom over the United States, the search for viable and renewable fuel sources has never been more important. One of these sources, nuclear power, has been largely overlooked on Capitol Hill for far too long. We need leaders who are willing to put science and facts ahead of partisan politics in an effort to ensure a sustainable and clean environment for both our nation and the world. If elected, I will take actionable steps towards supporting nuclear energy at the federal level. The need for nuclear energy is discussed in a short, informational video we have made. Please watch, share, and give us your feedback as community input is one of the key aspects in making real change. Check out our website for a more detailed Nuclear Energy Policy Plan. #nuclearenergy #climatechange #pronuclear https://www.gregtanaka.org/nuclear-en... Video Approved by Greg Tanaka
Airplane noise has been a consistent and pressing issue for this district. Speaking with the constituents throughout District 18, including San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz Counties, further shows how the lack of transparency and representation surrounding this issue has become increasing over time. If elected, we will take actionable steps towards airplane noise mitigation and emissions. This is discussed in a short, informational video we have made. Please watch, share, and give us your feedback as community input is one of the key aspects in making real change.

As an outsider, I bring 40+ years of working across many industries from finance to international seaport logistics and sales, including writing the Quarterly US Economic Report for a regional US bank. Unlike my peers who are contesting CD16, I have a STEM, Finance and Economics background. My innovative strategic thinking was instrumental to Malaysia's Westport growth from a $1 billion (1995) seaport infrastructure project to the 6th largest container port worldwide (2006). I expect similar outcomes as a Congressperson for California Congressional District 16.
It is very important to understand how to use data, but it is even more important to understand how data can be abused i.e., lying with statistics. In my opinion, climate alarmist are very polished at abusing data, primarily by not telling the whole story.
During the COVID lockdown, I reworked my credit risk and Commercial & Industrial lending experience into 2 monographs:
[1] A Critique of Dodd-Frank: Forecasting Securitized Mortgage Credit & Default Risk, Scholar’s Press, 2021
[2] Real World Data Modeling: Applications in Statistics, Physics & Medicine, Scholar’s Press, 2021
I discovered that our Public Health Policies with regard to Infectious Disease Spread was based on the Reproduction R0 model which I found to be highly misleading, based on erroneous statistical analyses and grossly exaggerated disastrous outcomes. Worse, it only forecasts hospitalizations, but says nothing about the disease spread. The correct model which I proposed should show probability of infections, recovery, and mortality. That is why I support the Great Barrington Declaration. We should have followed Sweden’s example, not China’s. Without lockdowns, Sweden had half the death rate the US had, and 350,000 Americans would still be alive today.
During this time, I invented a new bank product, Home Equity Line of Credit for Self-Insured Servicing (HELSIS). It can reduce home mortgage defaults by up to 70% without penalizing either the borrowers or the banks, but it needs Congress to make some small changes to the reverse mortgage regulations. I reached out to our politicians in Silicon Valley, but nobody was interested. Shocking! Therefore, I’m now running for Congress.
I even investigated Dodd-Frank’s Risk Retention regulation. It is a clumsy piece of legislation that is so ambiguous that it cannot be implemented or enforced. Our laws need to be market savvy not legislatively intense. Its not about showing how much Congress has accomplished after the fact. It is about preventing disasters and enforcing market disciple. Our record these past 100+ year is, Congress 0, market crash 7.
I’ve accomplished much more, but this is enough for now.

Given the deplorable condition of California’s infrastructure – power black outs, roads that are only acceptable in a third world country, expensive tollways, filth and homelessness, and a Governor who is focused on plastic forks and knives – it is very doubtful that California’s water problem can be solved under the current regime.
The Federal Government needs to take over these projects because water is a multi-state issue with a substantial amount of Southern California’s water coming from Colorado.
In the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-36) the Lord explains how to deal with the disadvantaged. The good Samaritan was a merciful man with a medical background, as he knew how to treat wounds and was willing to do so. He knew how long these wounds would take to heal. He thought of himself as fairly wealthy as (i) he paid or would pay the inn keeper whatever it took for the wounded stranger to heal and recover, and (ii) he owned a donkey and could afford its upkeep.
The priest and the Levite both thought of themselves as poor and did not want to be associated with any future troubles relating to the wounded stranger.
But the main lesson here is that the good Samaritan did not bring this stranger into his house, in order to help the stranger. The Bible does not say why the stranger had been attacked. It could have been criminals attacking an innocent man or good, angry people seeking vengeance upon a criminal.
The good Samaritan showed that when you have a good heart you have to exercise your brains, too.
And so, it should be with illegals. We should not allow them into our country under the guise of mercy but help them in their own country. The Lord has allowed hardship in everyone’s lives. Some more than others. Instead of using their hardships to build their own country, these illegals use their hardships as an excuse to come to this country, our US; whose generations of peoples sacrificed their lives and endured hardships to build this country. That is, a free lunch demanded by foreigners of our taxpayer’s hard-earned incomes.
Worse, Progressives claim abortion is rightful, but it is wrong to house farm animals in cramped quarters? How does that make sense?
By encouraging illegals to enter into this country, the Progressives have caused a very big mess which is both a source of drug trafficking and child sex trade. Thus, whomever who promotes illegals will have to share in these four sins, (i) child sex trafficking, (ii) drug trafficking, (iii) denying the accountability of these governments towards their citizens and (iv) denying the development of these countries by their own people.
We have to tighten our immigration laws.
We are all one people. This nation guarantees us equal rights and freedoms in pursuit of happiness but with that comes responsibilities. There are two primary responsibilities that our taxpayer funded civil servants and Congress needs to ensure for the preservation of democracy for all Americans:
1. A good education for all of our children, irrespective of race, gender, or wealth. That means removal of the teaching of Marxist/Communist based doctrines like,
- Identity Politics, which teaches racial hatred, as Marxism needs to divide us either by class or by race to thrive.
- Critical Race Theory, which is the University & public-school curriculum version of Identity Politics.
- Wokism, which is fashionable-ideology-based justice and not based on the law, i.e., today it is for a select demographic, and tomorrow, when the “in” politics changes, it will against that demographic.
- Genderism, where the State is forcing boys to become girls and girls to become boys.
We entrust our academics, teachers and civil servants to be good stewards of our taxpayer funds, to propose, decide and implement policies and projects that enable us, and our children live good fruitful lives, but what are they doing now? Why are they twisting our children’s minds?
2. Fiscal responsibility is key to an unburdened taxpayer’s wellbeing, but no, our Progressive dominated Congress believes money grows on trees. The fantastical budget explosion to show that the Progressive Congress is accomplishing something – even if it is irresponsible – will come back to bite our children as an enormous tax burden.
I have proposed 5 Rules for Federal Budget Management, that ensure that we never burden our taxpayers. My analysis shows that the Build Back Better Act will increase our taxes by 2.6x.
Correcting for CBO's GDP growth, using the 30-year average of 1.98%, public debt interest payments as a proportion of Federal Receipts is no longer feasible even with small increase, 3.00%, in interest rates. You wonder why CBO’s forecast interest rate is 2.63% at most.
Given that inflation has hit 8.5%, interest rates must go up. At 3.00% the Net Interest on Public Debt will exceed 26% of Federal Receipts and therefore, limits how much a government can borrow. The Federal Government would be forced to substantially cut back on budgeted programs or even worse substantially layoff government employees. You could say that the government could borrow more to pay that additional interest, but that would be like borrowing from a loan shark to pay the bank!
The irony here is that when interest payment defaults, the Progressive’s push for big government at any cost, will force the substantial contraction of the government’s ability to meet Net Interest on Public Debt. The Progressives have an alternative, that is to massively increase our taxes. With the proposed social spending programs, my estimate is that taxes will increase by 2.6x for everyone across the board. Unless, of course, they intend to chase out the wealthy who proved that the American dream is possible.
First, lets get the facts right. Emissions CO2 (0.005 ppm), which is almost all of the greenhouse gas emissions, accounts for only 0.001% of the CO2 in the atmosphere, Atmospheric CO2 (409 ppm). So how can clean policies targeted at only Emissions CO2 have any consequential impact on global warming? Almost anyone with a STEM background can do these calculations, but nobody did. Why?
Climate alarmist scientists insists that seal levels must rise 200ft when Antarctica melts. 85% of Antarctica melts and refreezes every summer & winter but sea levels don’t rise and fall by 170ft every year. Do they? That means our climate alarmist scientist are making false claims. Why didn’t our Congress verify this before setting aside billions of dollars of our taxpayer funds to fight a non-existent cause?
Analysis shows that every 32ppm rise in Atmospheric CO2, now at 409 ppm, is caused by 1 sq km of deforestation, but our current Emissions accounts for only 0.005 ppm! Why have our climate alarmist scientist been lying & misleading us for 50 years? Is there no accountability in either our scientific or political communities?
Worse, these climate alarmist scientists make the claim that “the trees do act as a temporary CO2 storage system but a very inefficient one”. What? Name me a CO2 storage that is better. Trees are the only natural source of CO2 storage, and human activity that deforests the planet is 10,000x more destructive than human activity that causes emissions. Therefore, I infer that modern day climate alarmist scientists are anti-ecologists. Why?
Sure, our climate alarmist scientist use complex statistical, mathematical and computer models to make their claims, but you know what they in computer science? Garbage in, garbage out. This garbage out is being used to drive our Progressive dominated Congressional policy decisions and the allocation of our taxpayer monies! So now we have a $550 billion, 10% of our taxpayer funded Federal Budget, allocated to garbage policies. What a gigantic waste of our hard-earned income!

I was born in Malaysia, one year after it “independence” from the British Empire. In 1970 after the May 13th, 1969, race riots between the Muslim Malays and the local Chinese, the Muslim Malay dominated government implemented what is today known as Identity Politics. That is, in 1970 I became a second-class citizen of the country of my birth.
These Muslim Malays gave themselves special privileges and called themselves “Bumiputra”, Prince of the Earth. To ensure this dominance both the police and military almost solely consists of Muslim Malays. At that time, it was labeled “affirmative action” with the support of American academics, but the structure of this “affirmative action” revealed its true self of Identity politics. Identity Politics requires that individuals get promotions and have access to job privileges because of the color of their skin and not by the quality of your mind, heart, and experience.
So, what happened? Malaysia went from one of the cleanest countries in the world to one of the most corrupt, in under a generation. That must be a world record.
The then Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib, was at the center on the largest financial scandal in the world. For that to happen, the entire political and public service machinery had been corrupted by Identity Politics. Is this what we want in the US?
I learnt that, for a nation and a people to succeed everyone must have equal rights and with these rights comes responsibilities. We must be fair to everyone, and not have the State mandate who can and cannot do what. The State’s responsibility is to facilitate the economy through robust education, effective services and market savvy laws and regulations; to encourage free markets.
In the 1970s, at most 25 teenagers had 6 A’s at 8th grade, today there are 25,000 A’s. So, has Malaysia become the foremost innovator in the sciences and the arts? No. What they did was to indiscriminately dish out A’s to kids of a select demographic. The Malaysian standardized examinations results are worthless, brains not necessary. Do we want this state of affairs in the US?
Correctly implemented Affirmative Action is different from Identity Politics (which is Marxism/Communism). Correct Affirmative Action starts at the beginning of the child-to-adult development process, not at the end of it. Identity Politics is when a select group of adults are given special advancement privileges because of the color of their skin, and not because of the quality of their hearts, minds, and experience.
Affirmative Action is about leveling the playing field at the beginning of the child-to-adult development process. While still children, all children should be given the same mentoring and nutritional requirements as those from more advantaged backgrounds. We don’t do that in California.
It is the State’s responsibility to facilitate the economy through robust education, effective services and market savvy laws and regulations. To encourage free markets. We don’t see this in California, with its third world roads, regular power black outs, filth, urine, drug menace and tax increases that are squandered. California is so third world, now.
Worse, our State & Local governments have failed our children by teaching Identity Politics (racial bias at the workplace), Critical Race Theory (racial hatred in schools), Wokism (justice based on ideology not the law) and Genderism (how to mess a child’s gender identity). That is, the State now teach that it is the state that determines our children’s lives, not our children themselves. At best, these are of no value to the future of an economically strong US or any other country for that matter, as third world Malaysia has proved.

The Federal Government plays a part in California water allocation and use through a variety of projects and laws. What, if any, new programs or projects or reforms to existing programs and projects would you support in an effort to handle water shortages caused by the current and any future drought?
Give citizenship to all DACA category immigrants and proceed with comprehensive immigration reform.
They deserve inclusion and we have a lot invested in them already.
Secondly, the US needs to stop causing trouble abroad, especially in Central America, so that the
refugee and internal disorder in those nations is substantially reduced.
Third, normalize relations with Cuba and end the over 50 year blockade and harrassment.
I support Comprehensive Voter Reform along the lines of the John Lewis Act.
I support elimination of the Electral College and election to the Presidency by a majority of the popular vote.
I support campaign finance reform so that economic cartels do not control the Congress.
I believe that the filibuster in the US Senate is a gross violation of Majority Rights.
I would support nationalization of the fossil fuel industry as the quickest path to eliminating the unusual political power they weild so that they are able to extract massive tax expenditures from the the national treasury while at the same time destroying the biosphere. In effect, we are currently subsidizing our own demise and not allowing the marketplace to price in the damage. The time to do this is now as the value of their stocks is decreasing quickly if we are able to price in the externalities of that damage. We can use the Stateoil model of the Norwegians, and, if need be, even hire them to run the business. They have a sovereign wealth fund; we, in effect, have a sovereign debt fund (now over $30 Trillion dollars !).
