My Top 3 Priorities
Student success and achievement: Continued highlighting of Calexico students’ low test scores and the need for tutoring, after-school programs, teacher support and parent education to enhance Calexico students' career and college opportunities.
Protection of public’s right to comment on individual agenda items at County Board of Education meetings. Working people and their children in Calexico need champions in elected office to be their voices when they cannot attend in El Centro.
I will continue to push for the Imperial County Office of Education to upload audio and video recordings of Board meetings so you, the community, can view our Board work when your working schedule permits. Your money spent should mean your access!

Biography
I grew up in Calexico, attended local public schools and graduated with Honors from Calexico High School before attending University of California, Santa Cruz on scholarship. I have raised my own children in Calexico and spent many years supporting other community children through my work with ASES, Social Work and Youth Ministry.
I know what it is like to work hard, to navigate the public school system to help my children thrive and to advocate for quality public education that offers children and families opportunities for success.

We need to provide students adequate tools to succeed after high school in college and/or career. Calexico student test scores still are too low.Luis Castro says "When I served as Calexico mayor, I always could depend on Annette to be a strong advocate for Calexico students and families and to work effectively with local officials. Please vote to re-elect her."Marlene Thomas, chair of the Imperial Valley Social Justice Committee, says "Annette has shown courage as Calexico’s Trustee to take on the tough issues in public education and to advocate for Calexico. She deserves your vote for reelection."I will continue to push for the Imperial County Office of Education to upload audio and video recordings of Board meetings so you, the community, can view our Board work when your working schedule permits.
