My Top 3 Priorities

  • Revamp the immigration system to serve California's needs so that there are candidates available for every job that needs to be filled.
  • Lower the cost of health care, especially the 100 most prescribed medicines, so that everyone can benefit from life-extending advances.
  • Vocational training in jobs that can only be done here, and not outsourced to foreign countries, should be emphasized.

Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (5)

What financing method(s) would you support to repair or improve roads, rails, ports, airports, the electrical grid and other infrastructure in the U.S.?
Answer from Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

I would support any and all methods, including triple tax free bonds, any combination of tax free bonds and user fees. We have to make it more attractive for investors to commit funds to improve infrastructure thereby creating jobs and growing the economy.  Tax breaks on bonds are one solution.  Finding innovative ways for equity investors to profit from an infrastructure investment in the same manner as in profit-making enterprise is another.

What programs or legislation, if any, would you support to help Americans of all ages secure affordable health care?
Answer from Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

We need comprehensive health care reform that balances the need of health care with the cost of providing the same. The single most important key to staying healthy is regular visits to a physician. To overcome the present shortage, I would make medical school free providing that graduates spend 5-10 years in their local communities providing free care for a modest salary. The cost of the most popular medications must be dramatically reduced so that all who need them can afford to have them even if they lack insurance.

Describe an immigration policy that you would support if presented to the Senate.
Answer from Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

We need comprehensive immigration reform that UNITES and not divides FAMILIES and that recognizes undocumented workers to be assets rather than liabilities. It isn't logical to suggest that we can deport 13 million plus immigrants anymore than it is logical to suggest that we cannot deport the small percentage who have committed felonies. We most create a more intelligent effective and efficient on welcoming immigrants to our borders. California should lead on this issue. We need to create a more logical path for citizenship so our families are united and our economies grow. Doing nothing is the worse option, we most act on this immediately.

What programs or legislation would you support to meet the water needs of Californians and the federal water project infrastructure in California?
Answer from Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

We need to secure and expand all water sources. California needs to import water from near by states to increase supply line. We need reservoirs and more undergrown storage. California cannot grow without water.

According to a "Civility In America” survey, 75% of Americans believe that the U.S. has a major civility problem. If you are elected what will do to address this?
Answer from Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

Civility must be made into a civic virtue. It has to be accomplished by education, by the community and by the media. We must respect and be kinder to each other.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Inclusion in a meaningful life must be the purpose of education.  Everyone has a role to play in the community.  Graduates must be prepared to start on a lifelong journey and then continue to improve themselves through lifelong education.

People who feel left out are motivated to diminish the enjoyment of others.  We must be sure that everyone is included in.

Position Papers

California must have more low-cost world-class universities and research centers.

Summary

Every student is Europe is guaranteed a free university education through graduate school, if qualified. The most precious asset of any community are its smartest children who can be measured at an early age.

High intelligence cannot go to waste and instead must be turned into a professional life of 50 years or longer than will benefit everyone by having access to more well-trained physicians, lawyers and educators.
