Biography

I'm a community college instructor, former tutor with the Nevada County Superintendent of School, and a frequent volunteer with youth groups.

For the last nine years, I have served as a performing arts and library booster, Senior Grad Night Committee Chair, senior project judge, Site Council parent representative, and community representative on Bear River accreditation interview.  Because of my serious commitment to students, I have been asked to and have served on District committees including Strategic Planning, Local Control Accountability Plan, and Facilities Planning.

During this time, I have regularly met with Bear River and District administrators, read and analyzed District budgets and plans, and attended School Board meetings.  This work has brought attention to and support for various programs and needs at Bear River including:  providing after school tutoring, increasing Librarian to FT, maintaining 2 FT counselors when District planned to cut to 1.5, purchase of marquee, supporting a robust performing arts program by reinstating a drama class and a dedicated Theater Manager to name a few.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe goals are best accomplished by respectful engagement, transparency, and honest collaboration.  Because the office I seek is that of school board trustee, I am mindful that trustees conduct business in a way that sets an example for good citizenship for our students.  Because a school board has great responsibility, and the community has placed trust in it related to both education and finances, it is essential that a trustee not be afraid to ask tough questions and insist on accountability.
