My Top 3 Priorities

  • wildfire preparation
  • fire services improvement
  • flood control construction

I received an undergraduate degree with a major in economics from Cornell University and a law degree from Stanford. I practiced as  a trial lawyer in San Francisco. for over 50 years, preparing and trying or settling personal injury and property damage cases. I also did arbitrations and mediations, both privately and for the San Francisco, Alameda and Marin County superior courts. I qualified as a Superior Court judge and occasionally presided over jury and non-jury cases in the San Francisco Superior Court. I discharged my military service obligation by service in the Coast Guard Reserve, reaching the rank of lieutenant.

My wife and I moved to Marin County in 1969 and to Ross in 1974. I was selected for a term on the Marin County Civil Grand Jury in 2011 and in 2012 I was elected to the Ross Town Council. I have represented Ross as a commissioner on the board of the Transportation Authority of Marin and serve on TAM's Executive committee and on its electric vehicle and alternative fuels committ ad hoc committee. I also represent Ross on the board of the Ross Valley Fire Department.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe that a council member must show consistency and fairness in  treatment of issues before the council, transparency in the reasons for the council's action and the courage to support positions which are not necessarily popular but appear to be the right ones.
