I received an undergraduate degree with a major in economics from Cornell University and a law degree from Stanford. I practiced as a trial lawyer in San Francisco. for over 50 years, preparing and trying or settling personal injury and property damage cases. I also did arbitrations and mediations, both privately and for the San Francisco, Alameda and Marin County superior courts. I qualified as a Superior Court judge and occasionally presided over jury and non-jury cases in the San Francisco Superior Court. I discharged my military service obligation by service in the Coast Guard Reserve, reaching the rank of lieutenant.
My wife and I moved to Marin County in 1969 and to Ross in 1974. I was selected for a term on the Marin County Civil Grand Jury in 2011 and in 2012 I was elected to the Ross Town Council. I have represented Ross as a commissioner on the board of the Transportation Authority of Marin and serve on TAM's Executive committee and on its electric vehicle and alternative fuels committ ad hoc committee. I also represent Ross on the board of the Ross Valley Fire Department.
