I’m an immigrant and first-generation college graduate who struggled through the public school system and ESL classes, and went on to become an EMT through my community college. Since then, I have become an US Army Officer, earned a PhD in political science, served as a senior university administrator in the UC system, and taught as college professor. I currently serve as the President of the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Commission and as Co-Chair of the California Democratic Party Resolutions Committee, and I'm here today to ask you for your vote on the San Francisco Community College Board so I can help guide City College in the right direction and make sure it is stronger than ever for the next generation.

My Top 3 Priorities
- Guide City College into secure financial footing after years of heavy deficit spending that have led to the cutting of hundreds of classes and faculty, and millions of dollars in deferred maintenance that have left our campus in ruins
- Invest in specialized counselors, student resource groups, and learning communities that will guide first-generation students and underserved populations into these great jobs in our community
- Provide the classes the students need when and where they need them, with a sense of geographic equity when it comes to credit, non-credit, workforce development, and community classes throughout our centers
