Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California (4)

What policies or proposals would you support to reduce the number of people who are homeless and to prevent people from becoming homeless in California?
Answer from Serge Fiankan:

Build mental health and rehabilitation centers in counties with ample land for people with mental health or drug addictions issues. Offer AA-type programs. Create housing in cities with tiny home villages/vacant buildings with meals, medical help, and professional training for the jobless looking for work. Offer affordable housing to workers with low pay.

About housing costs, lower the entire building process costs. Remedy the labor shortage. Up productivity. Use prefabricated homes.

What policies or proposals would you support to encourage and develop sources of electrical power that will reduce the release of carbon into the atmosphere while still being affordable for all residential consumers?
Answer from Serge Fiankan:

No source of energy we produce is CO2 neutral. Besides developing new (hydrogen technology) & making cleaner existing sources of energy (recyclable solar panels), we need to have a blanket policy to help cut CO2 emissions. This includes:

- investing in innovation

- manage forests, plant billions of trees

- enhance the current train track system for cargo and people

- use agriculture practices that include natural fertilizers, low tiling, crop rotation, and no pesticides

- curb energy consumption

What policies or proposals would you support to help those who have lost homes and jobs to wildfire?
Answer from Serge Fiankan:
Create a task force with residents and officials to address the unresolved issues facing those communities: - families’ housing debt - lack of support from FEMA - interaction with the SBA This Committee will brief us weekly so that we know what to focus on. We will also help those willing to relocate out of fire zones and demand that every home meets the fire department building recommendations established right after the Paradise fire that did not get implemented because of political pressure.
California has some of the richest people in the country and some of the poorest. What policies or programs do you support to help those in the lower income categories in California?
Answer from Serge Fiankan:

Provide worker protection for essential workers with low-wage jobs. Offer free education and employment training. Increase healthcare and mental health services. Provide affordable childcare. Address the racial and gender wealth gaps so everyone can build long-term financial stability regardless of race, gender, or zip code. Build more affordable housing. Support the reentry of people that have served with assistance, housing, education, and employment. Keep lowering the criminal system costs.
