For the last thirty-four years, I have worked full-time in the Santa Cruz County Superior Court representing the residents and agencies of Santa Cruz County. For thirty of those years, on behalf of the Santa Cruz Public Defender's Office, I represented people who were charged in major felony, misdemeanor and juvenile cases. In 2016, I accepted an offer from Santa Cruz County to serve as an Assistant County Counsel, For the last four years, I assisted two very different Santa Cruz County departments: Family and Children Services (CPS) in child abuse cases and the Sheriff's Office in obtaining orders to remove guns from individuals who pose a danger to themselves or others.
I take great pride in having handled thousands of cases, representing both individuals and government agencies alike and doing so with integrity and respect for the people involved, the courts and the judicial process.
My wife, Janet, and I raised our two daughters (Emma and Malika) here in Santa Cruz County. I coached local youth soccer teams for ten years here and have been a member of the Board of Directors of Familia Center, the Santa Cruz County Women Lawyers, and the Santa Cruz County Bar Association.
