I am a third-generation native Angeleno, the proud daughter of career public servants who instilled in me a passion for service. As the chair of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, I helped adopt a $183 billion state budget that directs funds to communities and initiatives that have been overlooked including - elementary and college students, the health-care systems and long-neglected programs to assist the elderly and youth. Prior to serving in the State Senate I was the Assemblymember for District 54 and before then the President of the nonprofit Crystal Stairs. I graduated from University of California Riverside. I am a single parent to a soon-to-be high school graduate and unapologetic advocate for marginalized communities and the working class.
