Cottie Petrie-Norris is a businesswoman, mom, and community leader who was elected to represent Orange County in the State Assembly in 2018. In her two terms, she has secured millions of dollars in funding for projects in our district and introduced important legislation to keep neighborhoods safe, improve schools, combat climate change and help local veterans and help small businesses.
Cottie serves as the Chair of the Assembly’s Accountability and Administrative Review Committee, Chair of the Select Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Chair of the Select Committee on the Orange County Oil Spill. She also serves on the Assembly’s committees for Banking & Finance; Revenue & Taxation; Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy and Veterans Affairs.
Cottie grew up in San Diego County in a hard-working family. Her stepfather was a union machinist and her mom was a homemaker who worked odd jobs to help make ends meet. Cottie is a proud product of Southern California public schools.
After working her way through Yale University, where she double majored in Economics and English, Cottie had a successful 20-year career in finance and technology. She helped build businesses and lead teams at Fortune 500 corporations, small companies and start-ups.
Cottie and her husband, Colin, are the proud parents of two sons, Dylan and Hayden, and a rescue dog named Flounder.
