Council Member Peter Leroe-Muñoz was elected to the Gilroy City Council in November 2010 as one of the youngest Council Members in city history. He was re-elected to Council in 2014.
Peter is President of the Gilroy Gang Task Force. He also sits on the Santa Clara Valley Water District Commission, as well as the Association of Bay Area Governments.
Peter graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in political science, and later received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Harvard Law School. After completing law school, he settled in Gilroy and pursued a career as a criminal prosecutor with the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office. As a Deputy District Attorney, Peter prosecuted narcotics crimes, gang violence, fraud, extortion and crimes against senior citizens.
Peter currently serves as Chief Legal Officer and Vice-President of Technology & Innovation Policy for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. He focuses on issues of cybersecurity, automation, and artificial intelligence, among others, to keep Silicon Valley the world leader in the innovation economy.
