Born and raised in Alhambra, Sasha grew up in a working-class, pro-union Latino household. Her father is an electrician and her mother is a social worker. Her parents never had the opportunity to graduate from a 4 year university, so they saved up every penny they had to ensure she could attend public schools in Alhambra Unified School District and go to college.
After graduating from Mark Keppel High School, Sasha turned her parents dreams into reality. She was accepted into Cal State LA where she studied Political Science and Economics.
In college, Sasha quickly discovered her passion for public service. She successfully secured $97 million dollars to increase college access and college affordability for all California State University students. During the same time, she was elected to her local neighborhood council and became the youngest woman to serve on the council.
Upon graduating, Sasha became the first in her family to complete college and earn a Bachelor’s Degree.
In her career, Sasha has worked on pressing policy issues, led diverse statewide grassroot campaigns, and educated constituents from across California on how to effectively fight for policies to improve their community. She has coordinated televised debates, town halls and forums to provide members of the public the opportunity to hold politicians accountable.
During her free time, Sasha volunteers on local campaigns, fights for the rights of young people, and provides food and supplies to immigrants at our Southern Border.
