Biografía
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Evan Low has devoted his entire career to serving his community.
As the son of a local eye doctor and outspoken community leader, Evan learned the value of community activism at a young age. After attending local public schools and earning degrees from De Anza Community College and San Jose State, he went on to graduate from the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Evan’s commitment to making real improvements in peoples' lives has been the driving force behind his public service.
Evan has been a trail-blazer for diverse representation in his community. In 2006, Evan made history by becoming the first Asian‐American, openly gay, and one of the youngest people ever elected to Campbell’s City Council. He made history again in 2009 when he was elected as Mayor of Campbell and became the youngest Asian‐American Mayor in the country. And in 2014, he became the youngest Asian-American legislator to be elected to the Assembly in state history.
As a State Assemblymember, Evan has worked closely with his community and his colleagues to tackle some of the greatest challenges facing the Silicon Valley and the entire state of California. Evan has been a leader on a diverse range of issues including job creation, affordability, environmental protection, marriage equality and civil rights, transparency in government, and fiscal reform. He is a leader in the Assembly, servingin many different capacities such as the Chair of the California Legislative LGBT Caucus, co-chair of the Legislative Technology and Innovation Caucus, chair of the Business and Professions Committee, and the Vice-chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus.
In 2010, the Silicon Valley Metro Newspaper named Evan one of the “Top 25 People who will change Silicon Valley.” He has also been named “Legislator of the Year” by the Internet Association, TechNet, The Computing Technology Industry Association, California Faculty Association, Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, California District Attorneys Association, and Faculty Association of California Community Colleges.
Evan will continue to bring new energy, innovative leadership, and a renewed commitment to California’s values to the State Assembly.

Filosofía política
My plan is to upgrade the Democracy we are practicing without violating or changing existing laws.
I call current Democracy 1.0. Democracy 1.0 is a wholesale deal. Voters elect representatives to fully represent them in the Legislature. In theory, representatives can vote however they want. Most Representatives represent special interests' agenda, personal agenda, partisan agenda, but not represent people.
My platform is called Democracy 2.0. I have two promises.
- Once elected, I'll post all the bills I am going to vote on in advance so people may deliberate them. Voters in my district can vote on each bill after deliberations. I'll provide a platform for discussion and voting.
- My official vote will always go with the result of the voters in my district. I will faithfully represent voters in my district.
I call candidates or representatives who made these two promises as Democracy 2.0 candidates or representatives. Democracy 2.0 is a retail deal. People can get involved in any topic they are interested while leave those they are not interested in to their representatives and neighbors.
In this way, people become the de-facto law makers. All the voters together can be considered as all the people. All the people control how to spend our tax dollars on all the people, how to deal with the environment they live in for all the people. As a result, the legislative branch becomes Model 1: The people spend their tax dollars on themselves. (Please replace tax dollars to other resources.) This is the most efficient model in economics.
Democracy 2.0 can apply to any level of the legislative branch, no matter if they are School Districts, City Councils, State Assemblies and Senates, or the Congress.
It will also be the first time to fulfill an American dream: the Government should be of the people, for the people and by the people.
If you are tired of partisan politics, vote for Democracy 2.0 candidates. If you are tired of special interest controlled representatives, vote for Democracy 2.0 candidates. If you know our current system need to change, but don't know how to change it, Democracy 2.0 is the answer for you. If your favorite candidates are not yet Democracy 2.0, demand them to be one.
Now let's start to upgrade our society.
Together let's upgrade to Democracy 2.0!
